Thanks for all you have gotin..But I'm confused on Laura P. Andersen arrived New York 13 December 1895.   Her destination is listed as Bridgeport, Connecticut. However the passenger before her, Marie E. Jorgensen 28 listed Wilmington, N.C. as destination... and then William was listed that he was going to his brother in-law Jorgensen in 1899.. And I cant fine any Marie E Jorgensen in Wilmington North Carolina area.. Southport is in the area too.

Attached are the two listings in question.

It may be that the scribe who made Laura's listing just got confused or off line with the destinations, but since William listed a Jorgensen I thought it might be significant.

Did Laura or another sister marry a Jorgensen?

There have to be another sister marred a jorgensen.. I know who Laura Anderson marred. I found her death certificate....... Alfred and William is buried in the same cemetery with a someone named Niels Jorgensen from  Norway..When Alfred first came over to USA, there was a Niels Jorgensen on the same ship(Hekla 1895)  with him. I wonder if that Marie E Jorgensen was marred to Niel.. In a 1910 North Carolina, United States Federal Census shows Alfred, William and Niels duarantine together. They all were single at the time, So i think this Marie E Jorgensen was married to him and died before this time.. But i can't find anything on this to make sure.

The Niels Jorgensen on the Hekla 1895 was 18 and Danish, destination New York so he was not the older one in North Carolina.

The two Andersen brothers, Niels Jorgensen born 1867 Norway, and a Swede were patients in a Quarantine Station in 1910, probably because they were seamen who had been exposed to an infectious desease (attached).  So I think Niels was only a fellow seaman and not a relative.

The destinations have to be a mixup on Laura's 1895 passenger list, as she listed Wilmington NC when she registered to leave in Copenhagen.   And here is the Marie E. Jorgensen, who registered the same day:

Name:  Jørgensen, Maria Emilie Occupation:  Tyende (m/k land)
Age:  28 Destination:  N.Y.
Contract no.:  232600 Registration date:  11/26/1895
Birth place:  ? Birth place:  ?
Last res. parish:  ? Last res. county:  - Amerika
Last residence:  Amerika Destination country:  USA
Destination city:  New York City Destination state:  New York State
Name of ship:  Hekla
IDcode:  D9396J6205

The 1900 Brunswick County NC census lists a "Petter Jearganson" born 1870 Denmark, a steamboat captain, but his wife was born in NC so she would not be a sister of the Andersens, and I don't find any other Danish born Jorgensen's then in NC.

Unless you also know fate of the older Andersen sisters Johanne Elisabeth and Anna Caroline listed in the 1880 Danish census, perhaps one of them married a Jørgensen?

Homer.
You are right about Niels Jorgenson on the 1895 hekla, He was to young.

Do you'll have 1900 or 1905 sensus records in Denmark? See if Alfred Jorden Anderson was there at the time. The 1900 USA sensus. He was nowhere to be found. I think he went back to Denmark before 1900. He save enuff money to come back to USA in 1906.

Kirsten Tatt

Alfred Jørgen Andersen was registrated May 1 1906
He had been in America and now he was staying in Copenhagen,  Halmtorvet 36, cellar
It says that he was selling cigars
He was born 27/7 77 in Copenhagen.

Alfred Jørgen Andersen is in the 1906 census, Halmtorvet 36, opslag 85.  He came to Denmark from Amerika in 1905.

tentis, I believe this link solves the brother-in-law Jorgensen question (scroll down to line 80):   http://www.ncgenweb.us/brunswick/jmarriage.html

Age of Hans P. Jorgenson matches that of the Petter Jearganson" in 1900 census (attached), and even though it said his wife was born in N.C. she must be Laura?

Laura probably remarried, as her first husband Hans Peter Jorgensen died in Wilmington soon after the 1900 census:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=jorgens&GSpartial=1&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=29&GScnty=1715&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=35996635&df=all&

(His birthdate has been misread and is 1870, as can be seen on the closeup of stone)

An unfortunate start, as the 1900 also census shows they had one child who had died.

His name is spelled "Petter Jeorganson" and I'm sure his wife's poorly written name is Laura, as the name above them is a Laura, and the L in both looks like an S.

Alfred is not on the page but on another page there's an Andrew Anderson born Denmark who possibly could be him, except birth and immigration years are off.
