I am looking for information on family of Jorgen Marains Augustenborg born 20 Apr 1889.  It was thought by the family that his lineage somehow connected to Prince Frederick Augustenborg (1829) because there was a missing link between Prince Frederick until Jorgen Augustenborg 20 'Apr 1889.  In al the research I've done, I see no evidence of this.  I believe Jorgen Augustenborg was the son of Jens Poulsen Andreasen Augustenborg and Maren(Marian) Sorensen who immigrated to the US in 1887 with four of their children.

Moving forward to present day I believe Jorgen Marains Augustenborg born 20 Apr 1889 in New Jersey is the same Jorgen was married to Christina Iverson born 1897 in Denmark and died 1951 in California.   Christina's father:  Iver Iverson born Nov 1872 in Denmark.
mother: Elizabeth Iverson born 1874 in Ireland.  They immigrated to the U.S. in 1892 according to a 1900 US census.

Jorgen Marains Augustenborg and Christina had 5 children, Ethel, Gloria, Roland, Jorgen Augustenborg Marinus  and Anna.

I would appreciate any information specific to Jorgen Augustenborg.  I have compiled a lot of research on Jens Poulsen "Andreasen Augstenborg and his father Andreas Jensen Augustenborg born 17 May 1819 in brooks, Ribe County and his father Jens Povlsen Augustenborg born 1773 (by baptism called Gusten borg)

Did any of the Augustenborg's live in Augustenborg,Denmark?

From his World War I draft registration card, Jorgen Ausustenborg listed his birth place as Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  This website has many records from Perth Amboy and might be able to find out who Jorgen's parents were.  I would e-mail them with all the information you have on his birth.  http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~njdane/index.html.  They have been a great help to me in the past.

I'm sure Jorgen's parents were the ones you cite who emigrated to New Jersey:

The 1900 census shows Jorgen's mother Mary born June 1850 Denmark was a widow who immigrated 1887 with older children Andrew born Feb 1878 and Mary born Mar 1886.

Denise, Did you find Jorgen’s parents in Danish records, or where do those names come from? You are doubting your findings, so maybe you want the forum to check those same records in Denmark (and USA too) to double-check your work. Is that mostly what you are asking?

Sometimes when shaking off a family myth, it’s harder to be sure of ourselves.

The parents in Denmark should have the same children as Jorgen’s older siblings, born in Denmark, as found in the immigration record and in the USA census.

You still want to know the death information for Jorgen Marains Augustenborg and his mother Marion Sorensen. So far I have not found that.

You asked about Andreas Jensen Augustenborg and Lovise Hansen. Here they are in 1870, 1880, 1890. I didn't really understand your question but hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the information on John Augustenborg.  I believe he is the same as Jorgen Augustenborg born 1889.  He went by the name John or Jack.  In searching using Jack and John I have confirmed he is one in the same Jorgen who was married to Christina Iverson. 

What I am confused about regarding Andreas Jensen Augstenborg, is what was his relationship to Loise Hansen before he married her? The translations I've seen say daughter.  Was she his daughter in law or may be sister in law?

So he went by the name of John? Since he was born in USA and is in 1900, 1910, and 1920 census as Jorgen, I figured he went by Jorgen! In searching for his death I didn't try John or Jack...

Current question is: Does anyone in the forum know of a family relationship between Louise and Andreas before they married?

Would help to see the original text you are talking about. You refer to "translations" - is there more than one Danish text you are looking at? It's hard to translate it for you without seeing it!
