We are searching forsome difficult information.  In 1867/68, Marcus & Anna Maria________?  In America tey took the name of Jurgenson.  Marcus was born 1831 and Anna Maria born 1832.  They left Denmark with Children, Jacobiah/Cobi/Kobi, Maria, John, Jorgen, Paul, Anna.  This is about all the information available at this time.  We are especially interested in birthplace of Jacobiah-Jan 8, 1856.  Any and all help would be appreciated.  Supposedly were residents of Aalborg County.  LeRoy

Is this the same Jacobia Jensen Jurgenson who married Ole Larrsen in Blooming Prairie, MN on July 26, 1878 and died in Lake Preston, SD Jan 31, 1936? If so, perhaps one of the forum members can locate more information from the marriage or obituary records.

This find-a-grave website has more info on the family.  It raises the possibility that Anna Maria was born in Norway. Also gives the name Marenus Jorgenson as another variation of Marcus Jensen.

On Jan 8th, 1856 a Jacobi Marqvorsen was born in Sct Olai parish, in Hjørring amt.  Her parents were Marqvor Jørgensen and Anna Maria Poulsdatter.

You can find her birth record at AO: 1855-1883 Sct Olai, Vennebjerg, Hjørring ops 84.

Her father was born Sep 8, 1826 in Sct Olai parish.  His parents were Jørgen Madsen and Jacobi Markusdatter.   AO: 1814-1841 Sct Olai, Vennebjerg, Hjørring ops 18.  


The 1860 census shows the family living in Sct Olai parish:

Marqvor Jørgensen   age 34
Ane Marie Poulsen age 27
Jacobi Marqvorsen age 5
Maria Marqvorsen age 3
Jens Marqvorsen age 1

The children probably changed surnames when the emigrated to America and Jens become John.  To see the census, go to the website below and select in order: 1860, Landsogn, Hjørring, Vennebjerg, Skt. Olai.  Then choose ops 13 when the java applet appears.

The marriage of Marqvor Jørgensen and Ane Marie Poulsdatter occurs on Oct 31, 1853 in Hjørring.
AO: 1850-1853 Hjørring, Vennebjerg, Hjørring ops 89 (no 11).

I haven't had time to double check this but I believe this census shows Anna Marie at age 1 in 1834.

If this is the correct person, then her birth record can be found at AO: 1814-1838 Hjørring, Vennebjerg, Hjørring ops 83.  She was born on Aug 25, 1833.  Her parents were unwed Marie Nielsdatter (Sort?) and Poul Poulsen.
