Hello from Arizona.  I am looking for help or suggestions on finding the location of a marriage.  It took place on March 12, 1893, the marriage between Helgine Christensdatter (she was previously married to Niels Severin Thode/tode) and Carl Christian Theodor Nordbye/Olsen.  She was born in  Hjørring, 1859. 23 January.  Nordbye may have been Olsen at the time of their marriage, but name changed to Nordbye in 1909,  I believe, by crown decree.  I do not know if there is a master list of marriages someplace, or not.  Any help would be appreciated.LeRoy

We do know that Nordbye/Olsen was in the Garnison-Engineers Kaserne.  He was a Sergeant and worked the Commissary counter.  If I knew how long he was in the military maybe I could read between the lines so to speak.  They lived in housing for the military, his wife Helgine and his mother Anne Laurine Nordbye Olsen was living with them. FT 1916_08064_02068  That is about all I know for certain.  LeRoy

Hi,
You find the wedding in Garnison 1892-1899, image 77 No. 121. She was a widow.

Eva M,  Thankyou so much for your assistance.   I had checked that register and had stopped just 3 Opslag from it.  Thank you again. LeRoy

Hi again,
Helgine's first husband commited suicide by hanging. You find his death in Hjo/rring 1862-1888 image 55 No 34. He was a beer brewer.

Eva,  I had found the Hjørring record about her first husband committing suicide.  The reason I had not found the information on the second marriage (Nordbye) is that we had always been told they were married in March of that year.  Could this have been when they began living together?  Because this date is on their silverware March 12, 1893-March 12, 1918.  The siverware supposedly a gift from him to her on their 25th wedding Anniversary.  LeRoy

I deleted my other message. But is the date on the silverware written with letters or with figures like:
3.12.1893? The date with figures will be interpreted as March 12, 1893 by an American and as 3rd December by an Englishman. A Dane would interpret it the British-English way.
