That fits a manor a little less than a mile NW of Kundby, which at some point would have a postal address of T(h)orslunde, or Thorslunde pr. Kundby.

Various maps, both historic and recent, are posted for Denmark.  If memory serves, a search word would be 'matrikelkort'.  I haven't needed to use English, so I don't know how easy they are to navigate without a bit of Danish.  I have used a printed map for this reply.

Hi Michelle.

Kathrinedal is a large farm in Kundby sogn, Holbæk amt. Kathrinedal was build about 1900, and is now parcelled out.
But when was this location given for their birth?
Anyway you should be able to find them in Kundby sogn.

Best regards
Vivian

The births occured in the early 1800s.

Last night I found a later census on da.dk for the family which says they lived at Holbæk, Ars, Kalundborg Købstad, Cordilgade so I will follow that lead to find birth records.

I am in the U.S. and my knowledge of danish locations is limited. Perhaps they lived at the current location of Kathrinedal and the person whose family tree I took the information from used that information. Thank you for helping me to solve this mystery.

Hi Michelle,

A good site for checking/finding place names is: www.krabsen.dk.

Another good site is Aurelia Clemons' with probates: http://aurelia-clemons.dk/probate.htm. I know that she has a lot of probates from Tuse district. However, not many from Cathrinedal (= Katrinedal): http://aurelia-clemons.dk/catrindl.htm

Hello Lissa,

I was looking for the birth/baptism records for the children of Hans August and Inger Christine (Christensen) Bie.

1. Peter August Bie  born 19 Apr 1813
2. Laurine Christine Margrethe Bie born 26 Dec 1814
2. Caroline Marie Birgitte Bie born 3 Jun 1816
3. Adolfine Cathrine Sabine Bie born 29 Oct 1817
4. Lorentz Andreas Vilhelm Bie born 2 July 1820
5. Carl August Ratløv Bie born 17 Feb 1823
6. Henrik Sigismund Bie born 21 Oct 1824

All were born at Katrinedal Thorsunde Sogn Holbæk Denmark

I have found their birth/baptism information but have not been able to find anything for the confirmation of Peter, Laurine, Caroline and Adolfine. I found the confirmation information for Lorentz, Carl and Henrik in Flade, Horns, Hjørring (1828-1854).

I also have not found confirmation information for the oldest son, Simon Lauritz Bie born 25, Aug 1811. He was born at Fødselsstiftelsen, Kobenhavn, Denmark, From the information I have, I believe that Simon Lauritz is the natural born son of Hans August and Inger Christine.

Hi Michelle,

Have you seen this thread from the old Dis-Danmark: http://www.dis-danmark.dk/forum/read.php?1,61252,61541:

And this website shows his ownership of Bangsbo Manor - later his childrens' ownership: http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangsbo_Hovedg%C3%A5rd

Hans August is also mentioned on Nygårds Sedler: http://ddd.dda.dk/nygaard/visning_billed.asp?id=30138&sort=f

Thanks Lissa,

I knew about Bangsbo, I was able to get copies of jpeg images of portraits of Hans August and Inger from the archivist at the museum. He also sent me images of silhouettes of 2 of their daughters-Laurine and Adolfine.

The link to the past forum was interesting too. I had to use an online translator to read it, as well as the articles about Bangsbo. Unfortunately, online translators are lacking, but it makes it clear enough I can understand.

The Bie lineage from Lorentz Bondix Bie is my family. His son Simon Lauritz, is my direct ancestor.
This is a quick list of my direct Bie ancestors: Lorentz Bondix 1713-1787, Simon Lauritz 1744-1817, Hans August Bie 1779-1849, Simon Lauritz Bie 1811-1847, Amalie Christine Bie 1843-1929, Lauritz Peter Bie 1866-1932 and Soren Olaf Bie 1896-1953. Soren Olaf was my grandfather.

I have been able to find quite a bit of information about the Bie side of my Danish family. My local library is attempting to do an international book loan of Stamtavle over den norsk-danske Slægt Bie written by Lorentz Bie. Again it is in Danish and I will have to do the best I can to translate.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Lissa. I had not seen that document about Simon Lauritz.

Can you tell me what types of documents are included in the Nygårds sedler database?

I see there are a lot of them listed for "Bie". Because of the date on the one you sent me, I would think that might be for his death, is that correct?

Hi Michelle,

You can read about Nygård here - however, only in Danish, but perhaps you can translate it. I have used www.translate.google.com for the first section :

Hvem var arkivar H. S. A. Nygård (1869-1964)?

=

Who was the archivist H. S. A. Nygård (1869-1964)?

Nygård was employed by the Provincial Archives in Viborg from 1897 to 1913. In 1913 he was, as he writes it, "deported" to Copenhagen. A loose rumor also says that he was bypassed when a position in Viborg was to be occoupied, after which he being offended went to Copenhagen, and in doing so took his notes with him. This should explain why all the many notes dealing with Jutland matters ended in Copenhagen!

And yes, it's Simon Lauritz' death in 1847.
