Missing page from a church book.

Does anybody know what to do about a missing page in a church book?  I was looking for the birth of Jens Jørgensen Friis in the Egtved, Vejle 1838 1865 birth book.  Opslag 98 has the boys entries 4 - 13 for 1865. Opslag 99 has boys entires 25 - 35 for 1865.  I cannot find boys entires 14 - 24 for 1865 (which is where I would expect to find the birth entry for Jens Friis).  I've looked around this book and have not located it. I checked the girls section of 1865 and did not locate the missing page.

Does anybody know where this missing page might be or have any suggestions about what to do?

Hi.

If you have access to the military records, ten you may have a chance to find his birth date. Usually a boy was listed in the roll as soon as he was born with birth date, fathers name and residence,

Another possibility is that either his birth or christening date or maybe both  might be listed in connection with his confirmation when he is 14-15 years old.

I have his birth date from his marriage record, but I was hoping for the birth record to get his parents names.  I have not been able to find him with his family in any census records nor have I found any siblings.

I realize I was wrong in my first reply. I did not catch that Jens Jørgensen Friis was born as late as 1865. In 1849, the law was changed: youngsters were not entered on the rolls until they’d been confirmed (age 14-15), so that option will not work in your case.

I did check through the 1870 Census for Egtved, and he was not there either.

My next suggestion would either be to try to get someone to do a lookup for you in the original records. There may be the possibility of getting someone to look at the original church record for Egtved at the archive in Viborg, all the pages should be there including the pages missed during the filming  of the record or if someone can check the military levying roll in Copenhagen for Jens during the years he would be included, namely age 14-38. For that to be done you need to list some information about where he can be found sometimes during those years, for example where and when he got married or where he was living when his children were born. I think that is what Verner Bentsen is offering to do in the previous entry.

Verner Bentsen had answered a previous post about trying to locate Jens Jørgensen Friis.  He was the one who provided me with the marriage record to my great great grandfathers daughter Anne Petersen Viuf.  He was also the one who located the birth and baptism records for their 4 children born in Denmark.  If interested that information is in the replies of the post "Request information about Jens J Friis"
