I am looking for information on the family Klodt or on Slaagaard, the location in Slesvig from which they came.

I have the following information:

father:  Peter Jens Henrick/Heinrich KLODT; b Denmark, September 1858
mother:  Bengte KLODT; maiden name possibly Olesdotter; born Sweden, 14 Oct 1858; died Iowa, USA, 8 Mar 1915
son:  Ole Nessen KLODT; b 1882/3
son: Soren (or Swen) Oleson KLODT; b 25 Mar 1884; died Idaho, USA, May 1972
daughter: Ella (Ellen) KLODT; b Jan 1886
daughter: Johanna (Annie) KLODT; b May 1888
Three more daughters, Mary, Dora and Christine were born after emigration to USA.

The family arrived in New York from Hamburg on 22 Apr 1889 on the SS Rhaetia.  According to the German departure list from Hamburg they were from Slaagaard, Schleswig.  Despite the German appearance of the family name, they were always entered as Danish speakers and Danish Lutherans on the US and Iowa state census.

I doubt you will find much in Danish records, as despite your ancestors' Danish heritage, they were German residents when they emigrated, as indicated on the passenger list, and the childrens' births were likely recorded in Germany.

There are a few Klodts listed under the Emigrants tab, but no indication of villages they came from.

Peter Jens Heinrich KLODT from Sommersted and
Bengta Olsdatter from Sommersted
were married in Vamdrup 27. aug. 1882 (Ribe, Vamdrup 1873-1882 opslag 178).

I can not see any with the name Klodt baptized in Vamdrup or Sommersted 1882/1883.

"Ollie" Nessen Klodt registered for the draft 1918 in Butler County, Iowa and listed his birthdate as 31 August 1882.  He also listed August 1882 in the 1900 census, but if correct, it was not recorded at Vamdrup or Sommersted.
