Thank you for this.
Can you explain the reason for the inclusion of information about vaccinations? I find it quite curious...

At the time the law said that you could not be married if you were not vaccinated against smallpox. Therefore the vaccination was entered into the churchbook - the date of vaccination and the name of the doctor who gave the injection.

Kind regards
Kirsten Kjellerup

Barbara Dobson

So does this mean that smallpox was a serious problem at the time?

Kirsten Kjellerup

Yes, smallpox is a deadly disease, and before the possibility of vaccination was discovered, millions of people died in epidemics.

Barbara Dobson

Yes, I understand that, so I guess it was a serious problem in Denmark at the time. All part of the social history of our ancestors!

Thanks
Barbara

Another translation please...
Tonder, Slogs, Hostrup 1827-1875 Deaths
image ops 174 entry dated 16 Jan 22nd Jan 1860
and
ops 190 entry dated 25 Feb 1 Mar 1863

Both entries mention Johann J.P Friis and Marianna Paulina Lauritsen. I am guessing they may be death notices for children?

Hope you can help
Thanks
Barbara
