Someone found an exerpt about one of my ancestors who purchased a farm.  I was curious if anyone could point me to some websites where I could convert rigsdaller to Kroner, and then adjust for inflation.

The expert comes from 1828 and says he purchased the farm from his father for:

"1343 rdlr. 4mk. 8 sk. sølv"

I believe I read that in 1870, 1 rdlr = 2 kroner, but I guess I would need to adjust for inflation to get from 1828 to 1870.   The amount of 1343 rdlr plus change seems really expensive for a young man to pay his father!

At the website of Danmarks Nationalbank (the central bank of Denmark) there is an paper by Kim Abildgren: Consumer Prices in Denmark 1502-2007.

An index with 2000 = 100 has 1828 = 1,840 (and according to Statistics Denmark the consumer price index for August 2015 was 131,1 with 2000=100).

1343 rdlr 4 mk 8 sk. silver (1343+4/6+8/96=1343,75 Rbdl1828) = 1343,75*2/1,840*131,1 DKK2015.08 = 191484 DKK2015.08

The daily wage rate of unskilled laborers in Odense was 32 skilling (32/96 Rbdl) in the late 1820s.
