Hi Paul

First Danish, then a translation:

CitatHr Peder Christian Forsum, Organist til St.
Knuds Kirke her i Byen, og Jomfrue Edel
Catharina Bang, copulerede efter Kongel. Be-
villing i Huuset. Forloveren for ham
var Hr Martin Cristopher Lausen, Post-
mester og Giestgiver, for hende Hr Hans
[Hunnesup], Skrædder-[Mester]

Words in brackets I'm not entirely sure of.

CitatMr. Peder Christian Forsum, organist at Saint
Canute's Church here in Town, and Miss Edel
Catharina Bang, coupled by royal permission
in their house. His "best man"
was Mr. Martin Cristopher Lausen, Post-
master and innkeeper, for her Mr. Hans
[Hunnesup], [master] tailor

Notes:

- I've translated "Hr." (Herr) as Mr., it was at the time a privileged honorific that not just anybody would be called, and you can safely assume that anybody titled so were at the very least in the bourgeoisie or above.
- Jomfru>Miss. - Jomfru meant young woman of some standing (in modern Danish it means virgin), probably also bourgeoise.
- Forlover/"best man" - I know there's a better word, but it escapes me now. They're the ones that guarantee that everything is in order. The parties aren't married to others, they're of age, they aren't related, etc.
- The royal permission was for them to be wed outside the church. "i Huuset"/"in their house" was probably the house of the bride's father. Possibly the groom's, or a friend of the family.

Regards,
Mikkel

Igen er det ovenstående bogstaver der forstyrrer mig. Tak Jørgen!

(Descenders from the preceding lines have a tendency to disrupt my reading. Jørgen corrected & all is good)

Do you know Wads Sedler (Notes)?

Try to Google

Foersom, Peter - Wads-Sedler

And you will find a note, which tells, that Peter Foersom in 1840 had been organist at Sankt Knud 50 years

Foersom
Jubel-Cantate opført i St. Knuds Kirke den 18. Oct. 1840 i Anl. af Organist og Dannebrogsmand Peter Foersoms halvhundredaarige Embeds-Jubilæum.

"Dannebrogsmand": He had received the Order of the Dannebrog:

Probably after the reorganization of 1808, maybe during the Denmark-Norway/England wars?

You can find much information about people with the surname Foersom in the Odense Database, Individuals and properties in Odense 1740-1921. For example, that your ancestor in 1811 had to pay a tax of 4 Rixdollars.

I think he got Dannebrogsmændenes hæderstegn - Cross of honour of the Order of Dannebrog.
