Dear Forum,

again I have a text in old-danish with the request for help in understanding the contents.

Thomas BOURDEAUX died on July 2 1735 (may be).
This document contains the date January 31, 1737.

Meanwhile, I suspect that there must have been another Thomas BOURDEAUX, maybe a son of Thomas Senior.

Thank you for your kind help.

Jürgen

I translate (as I see it):

... and the yearly tax of the inhabitants
Thomas Bourdeaux's widow
lives in the city Charlotta Amalia
with her son where their head
tax shall be 'observed' -
One 'master boy' for him   2 rigsdaler (rd) 3 marks (mk)
The above mentioned widow has made
specification for her son-in-law
Mons. Malleville (see nr 5)
11 male negroes  and 8 female negroes - 19 stk 'capable' á 2½ rd    - 47 - 3
6     -         -          -   6     -          -      -  11 stk 'Maqueron'
11 stk capable house slaves, male and female negroes á 2½ rd        - 27 - 3
4 negro girls 7-10 years old
2600 feet wide piece of land á 20 sd -   5 - 2 - 8
      2 x transport                                 8 - 0 -12                         91 rd 4 sk
After an examination proceeding by scond book-keeper
Lindberg & secretary Lerke at Mons.
Malleville's place on behalf of the widow Bourdeaux
on Jan. 31, 1737, delivered
a written specification on her
slaves belonging under above mentioned
No 5 at the same specification and is reported
to have been checked by Joseph Robenson
and Reis David, after which she has 36 capable
slaves, so there seems to be 6 more capable
than at the last specification, i.e. 6 stk á 2½ rd  - 15 rd      106 rd 4 sk

I saw an Arentje? Bourdeaux (reform.) died and been buried Febr.21, 1737.
Is that this widow of Thomas Bourdeaux?

Hi Ole,

thanks a lot for your help. Now it is clear, there was a son!

Arentje MEJER was the woman of David BOURDEAUX, brother of Thomas:

The widow of Thomas is Maria CLAVER.

All BOURDEAUX on St. Thomas belonged to Reformed Church I think.

From were do you know about Arentje?

Thanks again
Jürgen
