I cannot find him on the rolls after 1850.  He died from typhoid fever in Augustenborg field hospital 30 April 1864 while in training for the war of 1864 according to a memorial in the Søllerød Kirke.

Best wishes, Rog

Roger,

just a supplement: Hans Lorentzen died on April 30, 1864 in Augustenborg Lazaret, which is also mentioned in Verner's link. Not in "training" as you mention, but after the largest battle in that war.

The Preussian (German) Army captured the area around Dybbøl on April 18, resulting in thousands of fallen danes and probably even more wounded. The Danish Army retreated to the Island of Als, where Augustenborg is located. So Hans Lorentzen was probably one of the wounded soldiers. The Preussian Army then took Als from June 29 to July 1.

Hi Bjørn,

Thanks for your help and a note about Hans Gotfred Lorentzen,

A stone war memorial in Søllerød sogn states:  Hans Gotfred Lorentzen, født 3 august 1833 in Nærum død af tyfus på Augustenborg lazaret 30 april 1864, begravet på Augustenborg kirkegærd 4 May.  Søn of slagter Jørgen Lorentzen og Maren Sørensdatter.  A second wooden memorial inside the Søllerød Kirke (as translated) adds the words: "after enduring Winter Field Training Difficulties"

The above was found at the website "Danish warrior graves and memorials 1849-50 and 1864.
