Hi Roger,

most of it is readable:

Const. Lt.n  2170    Ses. 1859
Cst. 1.Reg. 10/5-59

xxxxxx    Ss. 1867

He was taken as Constabel   by Lottery number 2170  it seems.

Was Constabel in 1.Regiment from May 10 1859.

Probably then dismissed  in 1867 - but I am not sure.

Thanks, Bjorn for your help!

Do you know what a "Constabel" would have done or what his responsibilities were in a Regiment?

Also, I answered your question about my ancestor who was living in Nyboder in the question I posted about the British bombardment of Copenhagen in April 1801.

Have a good day & kindest regards, Rog

Roger,

a Constabel (today spelled: konstabel) is a soldier of the lowest rang.

A "Private" (in danish: Menig) will typically be doing mandatory service, a Constabel would be on a long-term contract .

Wishing you a nice evening,

Bjørn
