Hej and Hello.

Can someone please help me to find the census records, marriage record and death record for Rebecca Cathinca Kjær?

She is the sister of Jens Christensen Kjær and Pouline Jørgine Kjær in my previous posts.

Rebecca was born on 24 Oct 1846 in Rudkøbing, Svendborg (Rudkjøbing, Svendborg 1841-49, opslag 62 #27).

Her father was Morten Jensen Kjær and her mother was Hansine Poulsen.

I have census records for Rebecca in:

* 1850 in Rørvig, Holbæk;
* 1855 in Vestervig, Thisted;
* 1860 in Vestervig, Thisted;
* 1880 in Harboøre, Ringkøbing.

And none after the above dates.

Rebecca married Peder Christian Christensen on 5 Nov 1880 (per the index at familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FKC4-83Y ) in Harboøre, Ringkøbing.

In the 1880 census, Rebecca is living with her mother Pouline and her younger brother Jens.  There are also two other children (Hanne and Marius) who are the grandchildren of Hansine Poulsen, and I am assuming they might be the children of Rebecca.

I would appreciate any help in finding out more about Rebecca.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you Inger!

Can I please check with you about Rebecca's date of birth?

I had recorded Rebecca was born on 24 October 1846 in Rudkøbing.  I found a record at danishfamilysearch.dk/churchbook/sogn1582/churchlisting135531/opslag14687744 to show this date of birth.

But I can see on some of the records that Rebecca is recorded as being born on 24 September 1956 (e.g. politietsregisterblade.dk and kbharkiv.dk).

Do you think they are the same person?  Or is it possible she had a younger sister with a similar name?

Can I also please ask you to translate the name of the cemetery where Rebecca was buried?

Thanks again

Inger Toudal

Hi Hansine,

I think it's the same person. In all the censuses where she's living with her parents, her age is correct. See https://www.slaegtogdata.dk/forum/index.php/topic,81087.0.html

In the 1880 census, her age is 3 years off. The age and birth date recorded in censuses and Politiets registerblade
is the info that the person in question gave him- or herself. Maybe she didn't want to admit that she was 8 years older than her husband?

In the 1901 census, and in the burial record, her birth date and age is correct.

Daughter Hanne Dorthea Kjær died 22 Feb. 1893 in Copenhagen:
http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/component/sfup/?controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=3350807&searchname=polit_adv

Rebecca Cathinka died 29 Mar. 1908, and was buried 1 Apr. 1908 at Bispebjerg Kirkegaard:

Thank you Inger - I thought it was the same person too but I just wanted to check with you.

Thanks also for the name of the cemetery and for all of the other information - you have helped me so much.

Hansine

I received some information from Bispebjerg Cemetery about Rebecca's burial.

They told me "Der står at hun er sat ned i "frijord", nr. 2" which I think means Rebecca was buried in site number 2.

Can someone please tell me what is meant by 'frijord'?  Does that refer to the public section of the cemetery or something else?

Thanks for your help

Inger Toudal

Frijord means that the burial plot / gravesite was free of charge.

I don't know what nr. 2 refers to.

Inger

No 2 might be the small area of the cemetery to the left of the entrance.
