I am trying to find the births between 1740 and 1750 and also the marriages between 1740 and 1750.  I'm looking for the marriage of record of Jens Christensen Riber and Kristen Nielsdatter.  Also looking for the birth record of son Niels Jensen Riber, who I have estimated was born in 1746.  I'd be happy to try to read through those ten years of records if I had any idea which of the almost 400 pages that decade!!!

Honestly Ole, you are a godsend .. you've helped me so much.  Is there also a transcribed source for the deaths in the century of 1700?  If so, I'd love to have the link!  Thanks so much.  Claude

Yes, and it's on http://www.el-vis.eu/aner/media/D%C3%B8de%20Janderup%20Billum%201701%20-%201801.pdf
made by a good friend of mine, Henning Jensen, after notes by a now late local historian.
We both have ancestors in that area.

Best regards

You write:  I'm looking for the marriage of record of Jens Christensen Riber and Kristen Nielsdatter.

From where do you have the name Kirsten Nielsdatter?  Probably an error in writing.
I have not seen her name mentioned anywhere i the church records.
And I think that Britta could be right about the marriage i Ribe Nov.28, 1743, where she is named Karen Nielsdatter.
They did not get married in Janderup/Billum.

Jens Christensen Riber probably gets his 'surname' Riber, because he came from Ribe.
JCR & KN's oldest son Niels Jensen Riber's (~ Kirsten Jensdatter) oldest daughter was named Karen i 1777.
And she was probably named after her grandmother.

Sorry, I just typed the wrong name in... I now have the marriage data for both Jens Christensen Riber and Anna Nielsdatter and also for their child Niels Jensen Riber and his wife Kierstine Jensdatter.  What I'm trying hard to do right now is find who kierstine Jensdatter is.  As your friend suggested a while back, I think she has a sister Anne Jensdatter who married Bonde Nielsen.  This afternoon, using the birth records you sent to compare witnesses at Kierstine's nine and Anne's eight children.  I found each of them were godparents to their (sister's?) child two different times.  I also found both Jacob Christensen and Christen Jensen were witnesses to each sisters kids three times.  I think their must be a connection with a Morton Christensen (who married Anna Nielsdatter on Nov. 24, 1763) and Kierstine because he appeared in five of her kids baptisms.  I think I found the birth record for Anne Jensdatter as 4 Feb 1753 in Janderup.  One of the witnesses was  Ane Bandsbjerg and she was a witness at two of Kierstin's kids ceremonies.  I just can't find a birth record)

My three siblings (I'm 82) think my whole life is family history...(it isn't) however it does make my life whole.

Thanks again for all your help.  Claude
