I'm excited that Ralph Rasmussen found a confirmation record for Kiersten Jensdatter in Hylerslev Janderup 1763 and her father was Jens Christensen.  I am trying to make a connection between Jens Christensen and these three individuals who appear several times in the baptisms of both Kiersten Riber (Jensdatter) and Anna Nielsen (Jensdattter)'s children: Morton Christensen, Jacob Christensen, and Christen Jensen.  Is there a source that lists families in Janderup parish before the 1787 census?  Inger Buchard suggested I check for a birth record in 1750 in Varde parish because Hylerlev is midway between Varde and Janderup.  I tried; however, I am not skilled in reading Danish, unless it is in very good penmanship.  In 1749, 1750, and 1751 it is far too difficult for me to find a Kiersten.  Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.  Claude

Hi Claude.

Let me try to see if I can answer some of your questions.
The only census earlier than 1787 is the 1769 census, but it only covers the Schleswig part of this area.
Janderup is not in th 1769 census.

Regarding the search for a birth record for Kirsten, let me start by showing what has been suggested in earlier searches:

Confirmation of Jens Christensen's daughter Kirsten in Janderup 1763 (right side, 3rd from the bottom)
      https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17121672#160128,26918407

Jens Post's daughter Kirsten baptized in Janderup on April 28, 1748 (right side, 2nd from bottom):
      https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17121672#160128,26918317

"Dea Misericordia døbtes Jens Posts Datter Kirsten ..."

Now the big question is:
Are there any other records showing that Jens Christensen and Jens Post could be the same person?

I made a search for anyone called "Post" in the 1801 census, and this one from Hyllerslev came up:
Ribe, Vester Horne, Janderup, Hyllerslew Bye, -, 5, FT-1801, b9010
Navn:    Alder:    Civilstand:    Stilling i husstanden:    Erhverv:    Fødested:
Christen Jensen Post   52   Gift   Hosbonde   Fæste Bonde Gaard Beboer
Mette Marie Jeps Daatter   38   Gift   Hans Kone   -
Niels Christensen   19   Ugift   Deres Børn   -
   Jens Christensen   8   -   Deres Børn   -
Christine Christens Datt:   6   -   Deres Børn   -
Zidsel Jens Daatter   40   Ugift   Mandens Søster   -

Looking in the 1787 census for Christen Jensen in Hyllerslev:
Ribe, Vester Horne, Janderup, Hylderslev By, , 61, FT-1787, C0343
Navn:    Alder:    Civilstand:    Stilling i husstanden:    Erhverv:    Fødested:
Christen Jensen   37   Gift   Mand   Gaardbeboer
   Karen Nielsdatter   32   Gift   kone
Niels Christensen   5   Ugift   deres børn
Karen Christensdatter   9   Ugift   deres børn
Birthe Christensdatter   7   Ugift   deres børn
Johanne Christensdatter   1   Ugift   deres børn
Karen Hansdatter   20   Ugift   tieneste pige
Jens Christensen   70   Gift   Mand   Opholdsfolk
   Maren Hansdatter   70   Gift   kone

The old Jens Christensen living at Christen Jensen in 1787 must be his father, and since Christen uses the name "Post" in 1801, it is very likely that his father used the name Jens Post.

Note that Christen Jensen Post' first wife dies and he remarries in Janderup in 1797 (left side, 2nd from the top):

So, it looks like Christen Jensen is the brother of Kirsten Jensdatter.

Christen Jensen Post is baptized in 1750 in Janderup (right side, 3rd from the bottom):

  https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17121672#160128,26918323

"Dea 1p. Tr. døbtes Jens Postes søn n: Christen. Faddere Birgit Post ..."

The 1801 census also shows a sister to Christen called Zidsel.
Zidsel Jensdatter Post is baptized in 1752 (left side at the bottom, cont. on the right):

   https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17121672#160128,26918331

"Dea 19 p. Tr. døbtes Jens Postes datter af Hillerslef med Navn: Zidsel. Faddere: Else Cathrine Drejer..."

The transcribed age from the 1801 census does not match. It should have been 48. But it must be her.

Thanks Soren, check the query I placed last night and I think I'm about to believe the Kiersten I've always ignored because she was born to a Post... is my Kiersten.  Her birthday in 1748 doesn't exactly match her death.  I had thought she was born in 1750.  Plus, I always tried to associate her with a "sister" Anna" and now I am convinced the Anna I found in 1753 .. whose father is Jens Justisen must be a cousin or a very good friend.  Let me know what you think about Kiersten, please.  Claude
