Christen Jensen Skovgaard was born on Skovgaard in Rygårdstrand, Nørager Sogn, Randers Amt in 1822.  He participated in the War of 1848-1850 and was awarded the 'Dannebrogordenens' in 1848.  His marriage record from 1851 identifies him as a 'Danneborgsmand.'

1. Would he have received the 'Krigsmindemedaille' also?    I cannot find an application for him in Randers Amt.

2. Christen was listed in "Danebrogsmænd, 1848-1849."  Is there a website that would have the reason why he was awarded that medal?

3. After his name is 'Dvconft.'  (?)  What does that mean?

Kindest regards, Rog

Inger Toudal

1. The soldiers from the wars 1848-1850 and 1864 could apply for an erindringsmedalje in 1876.
You have to search for him accorrding to his place of residence in 1876.

3. Do you have a link to the record with Dvconft. ?

Best regards,
Inger Toudal

Danebrogsmand, 1848-1849, pg. 97 - 98, 1848, Christen Jensen Skovgaard, Dvconkt. (?)

Is there a website to learn why he received this medal?

Thank you, Rog

Ovconst. = Overconstabel  'lance corporal'

I don't think there's a website with info about why he was awarded the medal in 1848.

He did apply for the erindringsmedalje, and it was awarded:

He was an artilleryman (Artillerist), Jensen's(?) battery, 3rd battery, non-commissioned officer (Befalingsmand).

He wasn't wounded or taken prisoner during the war.

Ole,  Thank you for your help.  It is certainly much better than what I can do.  The notes in 1851 are even worse to read.
Thanks again, Rog
