I have located a birth of a child to Søren Jensen (Faxholm) and Gertrud Laursdatter

My transcription is as follows:

Year: 1713
No: 4th full entry
d: 25 Maÿ døbt et barn { /: no name given  :/} Søren Jensen i Faxholm Moderen
Gertrud Laursdatter, testes ?? Sørensen ??
Søren Tomfru, Anders Christensen, Johan Kundsen
Datter Bæsført og Chrstian Ericsdatter i Lÿnerup ?

I do not find a /: name :/ as exemplified in the other entries on this page.

Am I missing the child's name? Or is it given elsewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.. Thank You.

Hi Lynn  :)

Year: 1713
No: 4th full entry
d: 25. Maÿ døbt et barn Søren Jensens i Faxholm Moderen
Gertrud Laursdatter, testes Jacob Sørensen Kong
Søren Tomsen, Anders Christensen, Johan Kundsen
Datter Balskøt? og Chathrine Ericsdatter i Byen.

You are quite right. No name is mentioned. The priest forgot to write it down.

Kind Regards  :)

Thank you Karin. That is what I thought.

Here is my theory:

It is likely that the boy was called Lars (or Laurs) after Giertrud's father, as a Laurs Sørensen was witness at the christening of Christen Sørensen's (i.e. his brother) son Jens Christensen on 7/11-1745 in V. Brønderslev!

Laurs is also the first name of Giertrud's father. If the common practice of naming the 2nd son after the wife's father holds true then that would be highly probable. This child being the 2nd son in this family.

Again, thank you.

Hi Lynn  :)

You are right. It is very possible that the name of the child could be named after his mothers father - that is, if the child is a boy :-D

(The text does not give a gender) :-D :-D :-D

Kind regards  :)

I have some remarks to that:
I read:
Year: 1713
No: 4th full entry
d: 25. Maÿ døbt et barn Søren Jensens i Faxholm, Moderen
Giertrud Laursdatter, testes Jachob Sørensen Konge
Søren Tomsen, Anders Christensen, Johan Andersen(s)
Datter Galschøt* og Chathrine Erichsdatter i Byen.

*it is a farm in Brønderslev. You can google: Galschiøtgaard, Brønderslev"

Karin and Jørgen

Thank you for your feedback and information.

Karin--part of my reasoning re: the name and gender is that I had located several sources which did not have any specific date information only "about 1713" but which gave the name as "Laurs" and the gender as male. This was before I located the entry without a name but which gave a date that fit the other information.

I want to be sure that no name was given for the entry, however, with everything taken into account I do believe it is the entry for Laurs a male son.

Again thank you. This Forum is sooooooo helpful.

Hi Lynn  :)

I would make the same conclusion as you do. This baptism (of Laurs) must be right based on the other informations you have found.

Kind regards  :)
