Hi Claude

See this:

https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Sweden:_Moveable_Feast_Days_in_1744

And your "Skærtorsdag" will be the same as:  "Torsdag före påsk"

In Sweden they then do not use the name of that day as "Skærtorsdag", what we are using in Denmark  :D

Greetings
Christian

Danish moveable feast days:
https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Moveable_Feast_Day_Calendar_for:_Denmark
Denmark started using the Gregorian calendar from March 1st 1700.
In Sweden they used the Julian calendar until 1753.
England and it's colonies in North America changed from the Julian calendar in 1752.

Thanks so much...and the Sweden reference is interesting.  I was always confused that my surname was Hanson, not Hansen, as the Danish name.  When I finally did the research I found my great grandfather just chose Hanson on his own.... his seven brothers and sisters all used Hansen - and his baptism record is, of course, Hansen!  On legal records in this country he used Nelson as his given name and not Niels as his Danish records indicate.  Kept me confused for years.... now I just accept him as a bit "weird" when it comes to identifying himself!!!  Claude
