I need a complete translation of this birth record.  I am assuming this is a birth entry.... this churchbook just has entries in a rather unique manner.  Thanks, Claude   If you find time to do this one, you might turn to page 130 the first entry under April, on the left side - I also need it translated to compare the two.  Thanks for your efforts.  Claude

Hi Claude  :)

Actually it is a quite common way of making a church book in that century.

The Priest would simply write down the church events as they happened.

If you want a translation you need to (always) write a name and date.

Kind Regards  :)

Thanks Karen:  I'm looking for the birth of Christen Jensen who was born sometime around 1718 and 1719.  The second from the bottom of the left page of 132 seems like it could be the right person.  My ignorance is great; however, so is my curiosity and tenacity.  Thanks so much for you helpful suggestion.  Claude.

OOPS!!  I meant second from the bottom of the left page of 130!!!  Clod!

Karen:  Are you sure about the translation of the entry on page 132?  I can't find  a  Jacob anyplace...and I can usually pick out simple names.  It is the second entry under October and is on image 132, not 131. and I KNOW the word Christen is prominent in the entry.  I'm thinking the entry on page 130 is probably the right person....except the word immediately before Christen is a puzzle.  Is that a part of his name or part of the location.... I notice the word appears again among the names of those attended the baptism.  Thanks so much for your help and keeping this 83 year old brain stimulated!!  Claude :)

Hi again Claude  :)

You are so very welcome.
In your answer #2 you wrote "The second from the bottom of the left page of 132" and that is about a Jacob. It puzzled me and that was why I asked you to be more specific. For example by writing Døbt d. 8 or number 2 after october 1719.

However here it comes:

Døbt d. 8. Jens Christensens Barn i Over Fussing
Christen, baaret af Ane Christensdatter
faddere: 1. Christen Jensen, 2. Christen Hansen,
3. Christen Snedker, 4. Maren Christensdatter
og 5. Karen Jensdatter alle i Over Fussing.

Baptized the 8th. the child of Jens Christensen in Over Fussing
Christen, carried by Ane Christensdatter.
Witnesses: 1 Christen Jensen, 2. Christen Hansen,
3. Christen Joiner (his titel), 4. Maren Christensdatter
og 5. Karen Jensdatter alle i Over Fussing.

The word before Christens name is the name of small village. Actually I think it might be Vorning. Here is a link to google map showing a map from the area and a link to pictures from the area. It is a beautifull area.

Karen:  Gosh, now I think the last one you translated is probably the one I should be interested in.  Thanks so much.  I know the country is beautiful, for Christmas last year my three children gave me a ticket to Denmark and my youngest, Heidi, and I visisted the six churches where my Hansen ancestors were baptized....we were there toward the end of May and the rape fields were splendid.  My great grandfather's family was from Tonder county ,,, other counties we visited were Haverlslev, and Ribe.  The trip was both educational and inspirational.  Anyway, thanks again for your personal efforts.  Claude
