Thank you, Ole.  That confirms that it was a second marriage for Giertrud.  It also confirms that she was married to a military man.  Is there any concern that he is a drummer in one record and a cavalryman in the other?  In other words, can I feel confident they are the same person?

Does ab mean before?  On the moveable feast calendar, there is no 4th after Epiphany listed.

It must be the 4. Sunday after Epiph. 1724, i.e. January 30.
In my Bauer calendar it is also called so.

About the drummer/cavalryman:
Maybe he was first drummer in the cavalry and later 'just' cavalryman.
Could also be 2 different persons married to Giertrud.
