Hi,

I have found a Mikkel Pedersen in the Nordby on Fanø lægdsruller, arriving in 1823 and leaving in 1829.  Here are my transcriptions (please correct me if I'm wrong) and the links:

Questions...

1.  Is his birth place Søndernæs or some other place?  I could not find him baptized in the Brøns sogn, Tønder amt, church books where Søndernæs is located.

2.  Is it likely that Peder Mikkelsen is his father's name?  Why would they cross out the father's name and say it is not reported?

3.  Where is Haderslev Amt lægd 5?

4.  Am I correctly reading that he went to Ribe lægd 58?  I can't find him in Ribe lægd 58, on the 1828 or 1829 tilgangsliste or 1830 hovedliste.

I need to research this man further to prove he is the same Mikkel Pedersen who fathered a child born in 1825 in Nordby sogn on Fanø.

Thanks very much,

Lisa Petersen

Hi Lisa

11. Søren Svendsen born July 1825 born out of wedlock
Parents: Mikkel Pedersen journeyman miller in Hoe Mill and
              Barbara Marie Sørensdatter at Odden
They were probably not married, but just lived together.
And I don't think, that MP was the father of Søren Svendsen.

MP probably didn't know the name of his father.
He may have been transfered to the searolls in lægd 58, and they are not online.
He can't be found in the 1834 census and in the arrival lists in the church records.
Did he go to sea and 'disappeared' there?

Hi Lisa,

Sønderris north of Esbjerg is part of the Guldager Parish, but I didn't find him there either.

Thanks for the replies, Ole and John.

I would not expect a møllersvend to want to go to sea, but maybe he did to get away from the woman.   ;D

And of course it is possible he went to sea and disappeared.  He wouldn't be the first man to do that!

I was excited to find this Mikkel Pedersen on the lægdsruller in Nordby at the right time for conception, but the entries don't contain information like occupation that I can use to match him with the father.  You may be right that he is not the father of Søren Svendsen.

I did find a møllesvend Michel Petersen on FT-1834 in Ribe, who is a better possibility, but again, not sure he is the father.

Thanks again for the help.
