this appears to show his death was investigated from 1868 to 1873. the entry is under 1863, any ideas as to why? do they make mistakes or could it be that is the last time the army knew of his where abouts?  am certain this is the correct man as have a copy of the roll from when he joined, but have lost the link

this is on his widows 2nd wedding notes in  1868. so was already registered in 1866?

how ever close family say that an eye witness stated  he was shot through the jaw and  taken prisoner 3 of Feb 1864   and died of his injurys  20 2 1864

rhttps://archive.org/stream/krigen1864ogdefa00coheavensborg.  nr 58 page 134 lists Niels christoffer Andersen as the above, could it be the wrong name?

this is the record that matches that entry.
I read Danish  and some gothic script, but can not write.

Thank you,
my problem is cross referenced it with   "de faldne minde " from 1865, there is only one,  Niels chr. Andersen hellum Nr. 58 page 134;  his full name is registered as Niels Christoffer Andersen. His family believe that this is Niels Christian Andersen as they had reports that he had been captured by and Austrian on that day, after being shot through the jaw, and that the name in de faldne minde is  incorrect.
I Have looked for the said Niels Christoffer, to discount him but have been unable to find him in  as I do not quite understand how to use the lægsrulle. just need to be 99% certain.
Once again thank you for your answer.
Kind regards
Anne

Here he is in 1838 roll https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/billedviser?bsid=18438#18438,1095144
N126 - 91 Niels Kristian - born in Hellum  6 October 1837

Aalborg, Hellum, Torup, Hellum Bye, en Gaard, 1, FT-1840, C4488
Anders Christensen     41     Gift          Gaardmand
Johanne Nielsdatter     23     Gift          hans Kone
Hendrik Andersen     18     Ugift          deres Børn  (must be HIS child from 1. marriage)
Niels Christian Andersen     3     Ugift          deres Børn
Kirstine Nielsdatter     22     Ugift          Tjenestepige

Aalborg, Hellum, Torup, Hellum Bye, En gaard, 17, FT-1845, B6985
Anders Christensen     46     Gift          Gaardfæster     Thorup sogn
Johanne Nielsdatter     26     Gift          Hans kone     Thorup sogn
Hendrich Andersen     25     Ugift       Deres børn     Thorup sogn
Niels Christian Andersen     8     Ugift          Deres børn     Thorup sogn
Margrethe Andersdatter     2     Ugift          Deres børn     Thorup sogn
Else Marie Christensdatter     20     Ugift          Tjenestepige     Brøndum sogn

And there is NO Niels Christopher Andersen in the 2 censuses.
So the registration in 'de faldne minde' must be incorrect - based on a guess !

I really need to find out how to search in  the " Lægdsruller," it has taken  me weeks  of  searching with out success,    for what you found in a few hours. I am very grateful for your time, its really appreciated.
I can now close the case of my husbands 2 x great grandfather and proceed to the next challenge.
