My question has to do with what years Kai Ove Larsen served in the Danish military.

Or more to the point - was he in England or Denmark in 1925?

The family story goes that he had gone to England and married there in 1919, but then traveled back to Denmark circa 1925/6 to visit relatives and 'got caught' because he had not completed his military service and was conscripted to fulfill his military duty for a few years.

The file is too large to attach, but the Lægdsruller entry can be found here:

It looks to me like he served from January 1926 through August 1928, but I'm not sure I'm reading that correctly and any help deciphering it is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

(We do already have his family tree back another 3 or 4 generations from Kai and only wish to be sure of the years he served in the military)

When you compare to the levying rolls from the central military authorities:

1916: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=16481033#18794,1200446 - O 982

1926: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=16481033#18797,1202382 - O 982

- it seems that he served from 17 Nov. 1926 to 17 Apr. 1927.

I don't see anything recorded for the year 1925. Seems he returned to Copenhagen in January 1926.

Before doing his military service, he was punished a couple of times for not complying with the rules.

He was granted travel permission from 23 May 1927 to 31 Aug. 1928.

Thank you!   That fits with the family story quite well - including the part about being punished.

Tak for hjælpen,
