Upcoming visit to Denmark

Following a Baltic Sea cruise, my wife and I will spend this July 21 to 23 in Jutland to learn more about my grandfather, Nels Christ Mattison, who was born Feb. 23, 1867 in the Norre Snede parish. According to a 1880 census, he (also known as Niels Christian Matisen) lived in the village of Hampen with his father, Matias Pedersen of the Flynder parish, Ringkobing Amt, mother Ane Pedersen of Klovborg parish in Aarhus Amt, sisters Anemagrete Matisen, Katrine Stefine Matisen and brother Hans Christian Matisen.  This information was given to us by Michael H. Gelting, Arkivar at Spoergrigsarkivet@sa.dk, who recommended following up with your organization.  We would be most grateful if you could help us with the following questions:
- Are there surviving descendants of either Anemagrete or Hans Matisen that I could contact, and perhaps even meet when we visit Denmark?  My grandfather Nels and his sister Katrine both emigrated to the USA, and had large families.
- Were there earlier siblings to Nels who did not survive or were no longer living with their parents in 1880?
- Can you provide directions to (or precise identification of) the birthplace and childhood home of Nels?  We would like to visit them if possible.
- Is it possible to trace Nels' ancestors back 2-3 generations?  I understood that either his father or grandfather came from Norway; is that correct?

If you can provide information on any of these questions, it would be very helpful in making our brief stay in Denmark memorable.  I am the keeper of the family tree for the descendants of Nels, which now number over 1000 direct descendants.  Some of us meet for a reunion each June, and I would like to be able to share new information with our larger family.

We will be disembarking from our ship in Copenhagen at 9am on the morning of July 21, and plan to drive direct to the Norre Snede area.  We will be staying in a hotel in Aarhus July 21 and 22, and returning to Copenhagen late on July 23 for our return flight July 24.

Thank you for a fast, extensive report on the family of my grandfather, Nels Christ Mattison (Niels Christian Matisen). The information you provided has given me a completely new view of his ancestors, his siblings, and their descendants.  I will be making a preliminary report at our Mattison family reunion in Minnesota on Sunday, June 30, and explain some of these new findings.  Mange tak!
Using some of this new information in the "My Heritage" website, I was able to find a Mathiassen family tree that includes my grandfather and his parents Mathias and Ane Pederson.  I sent a message via the My Heritage website to Egon Mathiassen, the keeper of that family tree on June 11, asking him to contact me at my email address mattisonpk@comcast.net regarding out upcoming trip to Denmark, but I have not heard from him yet.  Would it be appropriate and possible for you to contact him and give him my email address mattisonpk@comcast.net?  It would give me much pleasure to be able to set up a meeting with him while we are in Denmark on July 21-23.  Because of the privacy issues of geneology, it is difficult for me to develop contacts with my living relatives in Denmark.  I would appreciate any help or advice you can give me.
