Hello, someone on www.genealogy.com forum for Denmark suggested that I post what I have so far on my great-grandfather and his family to see if you all could help me even further.

My great-grandfather, Aage Faster Hansen (DOB 13 June 1885 died 13 July 1945) emigrated to America in 1905 from Copenhagen, Denmark.  He came over (or met on the boat, not sure) with Anna Maria Sophia Jensen, who he married in 1905 in America.  They later divorced in 1910, though she was not around for years prior.  We are not sure what happened there.  He then married my great-grandmother, Maud Barnett in January 1911.

We have about 70 or so letters from Aage's parents and sister from Denmark (and a few friends) from 1905 to 1925 or so.  Some info was gained from those.  I am going to list the information we have so far to see if anyone might know of any other information that could be found out.  I was really wanting to find out about his sister, Karen Margrethe Zuethen Hansen Leisted's children and grandchildren.  She had four children though I don't have much information on them.  Their names are Jonna Vibeke Nielsen (DOB 2 May 1911) and Preben Leisted and Gette (maybe short for Margrethe) Leisted and another boy, but I don't know his name.  I don't have birthdates for them, but can guestimate years.

There are also mentions in the letters of aunts and uncles, however only first names.  Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Lists Julius Carl Hansen's (DOB 5/Sept/1851) wife as Clara Theodora Christine?
Aage was not raised by his birth mother, Camilla.  She died, along with his sister Inger.  His father then married Clara and they had Karen Margrethe.
Camilla Augusta Fæster
died 3 august 1886 in Copenhagen, Skt.Matthæus Parish
buried 8 august 1886

She was buried together with her daughter
Inger Camilla Hansen, born 22 july 1886 and
died 5 august 1886.

Clara Theodore Christine Jensen is the mother of
Karen Margrethe Zeuthen Hansen
born 19 september 1888 in Copenhagen
baptized 4 november 1888 in Skt.Mathtæus CHurch.

Jonna Margrethe (the Margrethe is crossed out) Vibeke Nielsen was born 2 May 1911 to the unmarried Karen Margrethe Zeuthen Hansen and Johan Christian Nielsen, Valby, Sokkelund, København, opslag 194 nr 56.

Note:  Karen indicates in a letter that she married Jonna's father but that they got a divorce as they did not get along.

It seems as if the father of Jonna Vibeke was also an actor. Could be him here in Copenhagen: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/index.php?option=com_sfup&controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=1839450

Could also be him here: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/index.php?option=com_sfup&controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=1839449&lang=de&Itemid=0

Born: 14 November 1880 in Århus.
Died: 25 March 1968
Burial place: Bispebjerg Cemetery - Kbh (Kbh = København = Copenhagen)

Johan Christian Nielsen was engaged at Odense Theater 1929-30 and played the role of Bogdanowitsch in "The merry widow". Moreover he was touring and engaged at Casino (= a theatre).

He also starred in 4 silent movies as mentioned on the film page.

Here you will a.o. find a photo of Johan: http://www.danskfilmogteater.dk/skuespillere/N/johan_nielsen.html

Apparently Karen became quite religious in her latter years....
When you google "Karen Margrethe Zeuthen Hansen", this is the first link that pops up: http://www.heavenlydoctrines.org/New%20Church%20Life%5C1957_HTML.htm

And here: http://www.heavenlydoctrines.org/New%20Church%20Life%5C1961_HTML.htm
The first link shows that she was a "new member" in 1956, and the second link that she died in Copenhagen 23 April 1960 at age 72.

Hi Stina,

I had seen the records of her with her 2nd husband, Eugene Leisted, but not the one of her with her 1st, Nielsen (her daughter, Jonna's, father).

I wonder if I am missing something with these types of records.  I am unsure if I understand the importance or what it tells me?  Is there something that I should be noting?

I knew that she was an actress when she was with Johan Nielsen, that is how they met, performing in a summer comedy (I knew this from her letters).  However, I don't believe she did any acting after marrying Eugene and having more children.  I believe they were just too poor.  They moved around a lot and apparently stayed in a lot of hotels.  She ended up fostering out 2 of the children, though her son came back after a short time away.  Her youngest daughter, Gette (?) staying for 2-3 years with a couple named Larsen.  Else Larsen and her husband, who was said in the letters to be a well known painter?  In Vording, it says.   This was in 1921-1924 as far as I can tell.

The letters were translated from Danish a number of years ago and I only have the translations, not the originals.  I don't know any Danish, so just have to go by what I have.  I just assume the translations were correct, but I don't know who translated them.

Any other ideas on what I should be looking for or where to look?  Thanks so much for any help you might provide!

Hi Julie,

I contacted Tina on phone - she is the granddaughter of Eugen Emil Julius Leisted and Karen Margrethe Zeuthen Hansen. Her father was Bent Hedeberg Leisted. A bit later this evening I will send her the link to Genforum and to this site. She is very anxious to get in contact with you.

Thank you Lis for the link to Tina Leisted!

Hi Julie.

As Lissa writes, I am grand daughter of Eugen Leisted and Karen Margrethe Zeuthen Hansen. They had 5 children: Jonna, Preben, Mogens, Jytte and Bent. Bent Leisted was my father. All 5 siblings and their spouses are unfortunately dead, except my mother, who is fresh and healthy.
All 5 siblings have living children in Denmark.
I have an older sister Gry, who lives in Copenhagen, and a twin brother Peter, who sadly died a year ago.

It's fun and exciting to have had family in the United States :-) and I am looking forward to hearing from you :-)

Friendly greetings
Tina

Lis and Lissa,

Thank you so much for all of your help in helping me to find Tina!  This is so very exciting!  I would not be in contact with her without your help.

Hello Tina,

I am SO happy to hear from you!  So will all the other Hansens (and descendents) here in the US, there are a LOT of us!  Your Grandmother, Karen's, brother Aage Hansen, had four sons and two daughters.  Carl, Erick (my grandfather), Herbert, Marie, Verner and Verna (twins).  My great Aunt Verna (we call her Vernie) is the only one still alive.  They all had many children however.  I cannot even begin to name them all. You have many many cousins over here!  I am so sorry to hear of those that have passed, but am anxious to hear all about them.

Please contact me on my email at julievm@hotmail.com.  I can't wait to chat more with you.

Julie
