I am working on a family, they have I believe twins: 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 96 pg 46a-#1st entry, date 13 Aug 1758

one is named Niels and the other named Jacob.

Anno: 1758
Numb: 1st entry
Domin 12 p. Trinit {13 Aug 1758} en døbt i Skioldborg Kirke Hans Christopher Jacobsen og hustru Else Knudsdatter af Aaes derre 2 ?? ?? Drenge barn, den ein kaldet JACOB, den ander NIELS, faddere: Christen Søgaard af Kallerup, Botte Jacobsen, Peder Jespersen, Jens Knudsen i Sundbye, ?? Jacobsen, Jens Christensen og Else Jensdatter af Sibling (?), Maren Soegaard, Anne Nielsdatter, Else Pedersdatter; Mod: introducieret Dom: 18

Jacob dies and is buried 3 Sep 1758: 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 181 pg 138-5th entry

Anno: 1758
Numb: 5th entry
Dom: 15 p. Trinit {3 Sep 1758} en begravet Hans Christoph: Jacobsens lille Søn JACOB i Aaes, 16 dagen gammel

Then on 25 Jan 1761: 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 100 pg 48a-#2nd entry they have another son and name him Jacob, also.

Anno: 1761
Numb: 2nd entry
Domin: Sexagesima {25 Jan 1761} er Hans Christophers hustru af Aaes Else Knudsdaatter ?? ?? hjemmedøbt og ?? efter døde barn introduderet. Barnet war en Søn kaldet JACOB

I take it that he also died, 14 Dec 1760. I have a burial entry for a Jacob son of Hans Christopher at 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 182 pg 139a-1760-2nd entry from year end

Anno: 1760
Numb: 2nd entry from year end
Dato: {Dom 3dia Adventus 14 Dec 1760 en begravet i Skioldborg kirkegaard} Hans Christopher i Aaes hans Nyfødt og hjemmedøbt Søn JACOB; Text Apco 20:12

I need my transcriptions verified. From what I have transcribed I have the second Jacob being buried a month plus before he is born.

Could someone take a look at my transcriptions and verify them, and explain why the birth of the 2nd Jacob is 25 Jan 1761 and his burial is 14 Dec 1760?

Thank you....

Hi Lynn

My best guess is that the child was born in Dec and probably lived just long enough to be quickly baptised by those in attendance. The Jan 1761 record is simply the introduction of the mother back to the church with the priest noting that a baptism was done before the child died.

To spell out the 'introduction', a minimum 40 days after the birth:

Anno: 1761
Numb: 2nd entry
Domin: Sexagesima {25 Jan 1761} er Hans Christophers hustru af Aaes Else Knudsdaatter efter hendes hjemmedøbt og strax efter døde barn introduceret. Barnet war en Søn kaldet JACOB

Sexagesima Sunday formally received Else Knudsdatter, Hans Christophers wife of Aaes, after the birth, baptism and immediate death of her child.  (The child was a son, Jacob.)

That is the first Sunday after 17 days in December and 23 days in January had passed.  Forty days was the number derived from the ancient Hebrew ritual.

Ok, so if I have this straight the situation is this:

1) Hans Christopher Jacobsen and Else Knudsdatter have twins on 13 Aug 1758, the boys were named: Niels and Jacob; 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 96 pg 46a-#1st entry

2) Jacob dies a few (16) days later and is buried on 3 Sep 1758; 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 181 pg 138-5th entry

3) Then several years later, they have another son whom they also name Jacob. Birth entry not found.

4) This Jacob dies and was buried on 14 Dec 1760; 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 182 pg 139a-1760-2nd entry from year end

4) Then on 25 Jan 1761 the mother, Else, returns to church, after 40 days. This entry mentions the son for reference purposes only and is provided to document the "introduction" of the mother; 1712-1763 Skjoldborg, Hundborg, Thisted img 100 pg 48a-#2nd entry

My liberal translation of the 25 January 1761 entry is:

On January 25, 1761, Else Knudsdatter, the wife of Hans Christopher of Aaes returns to church, this is after the baptism at home and immediately death of a child, which was a son and named JACOB.

Thank you for the feedback.... :) :) :)
