I recently purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro.

In trying to open AO and nothing happens. Is there some thing I need to do to have AO open the Parish registers?

Any insight would be welcomed....Thank you.....

With a different Microsoft version, I rely on Java (version 6).     You may also have 'Windows Firewall' need ing some settings change.

I am finding that Microsoft Surface Pro 3 will not run Java programs. It is not as much a small lap computer that I thought. :( :( :(

Hi Lynn,

Have you tried to go to java.com and download and install Java from there?
At java.com you can also test if you have java installed and which version.

Some where I read that Microsoft is trying with Windows 8.1 to eliminate Java. If it is true they have succeeded in giving access to a lot of material.

Fortunately, I do my Family History research on my desktop and I have access to AO there.
