I am searching for the birth place of Frederik Ebler.  He is also listed in records as Frederick Valentin Eppler and Velentien Frederich Eppler.  Here he is in the 1880 census and the original is opslag 9

All persons in the household

Aarhus, Hasle, Aarhus Købstad, Århus Købstad 11, 955/nørregade, 9, FT-1880, a4181
Name:     Age:     Marital status:       Position in household:       Occupation:       Birth place:
Nels Nelsen    48    Enke          Elste
Nels Christian Nelsen    10    -          Hjortshøi
Susanne Polelsen    55    Ugift          Fillerup
Elise Marie Bergite Røi    Under 1    Ugift          Aarhus
Ellen Marie Rasmusen    58    Gift          Høst
Lovitse Geryra Hartman    22    Ugift          Olse
Kamille Dorte Hartmd. (hartmand)    17    Ugift          Veilelby
Laure Hertmann    16    Ugift          Aarhus
Frederik Ebler    46    Gift          Mils I Sagsen
Eline Marie Hørret    42    Gift          Aarhus
Johan Eval Ebler    18    Ugift          Aarhus
Jakob Peter Ebler    13    Ugift          Gronfør
Marinu Emil Ebler    8    Ugift          Aarhus
Emme Josine Elisabet Ebler    4    Ugift          Aarhus

Perhaps a clue can be found in his marriage record.  He married Elina Maria Hørret on 10 May 1861, Vor Frue, Hasle, Aarhus, opslag 285 nr 11.  I cannot read where he was from.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Med venlig hilsen
Paul

In the marriage record he is:

Ungkarl og Bomuldsvæversvend Valtien Frederick Eppler i Ged..gade 27½ Aar.  The often helpful vaccination and confirmation  information is missing.

A big 'however' is the indtegning here:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1961-32737-20359-31?cc=2078555&wc=M5V9-TQC:357517401,357517402,357686801,357699301

Thus Valtin [sic]'s father is weaver Johann Georg Eppler and his birth date is November 6, 1833, in Milz in Saxony (Sachse-Meiningen).

The Århus censuses for 1850, 1855, 1860 haven't been transcribed.  That makes it difficult to know whether he may have been confirmed in Århus with a possible name for his mother.

Tusind tak for din hjælp Ralph.  It probably will pay me to look in the Vor Frue and Domsogn kirkebogs to see if he was confirmed in Aarhus.

Hi

There are some persons named Eppler in Aarhus, see Sejrs Notes here:

www.sejrssedler.dk

www.sejrssedler.appspot.com/search_listing?people=Eppler

This one tells that Frederik Valtin Eppler died in 1888

www.sejrssedler.dk/search_listing?local_tag=Friederich+Valtin+Eppler

He was a weaver and married to Eline Marie Hørret, she died in 1913

One note tells, that he was born in Sachen-Meiningen, but had been a danish citizen.

The census from 1850 is transcriped, but no Eppler - perhaps he was not in Aarhus at that time
but you can find his wife Eline Hørret as child with her parents Jacob Hørret and Marie Saxild.

The census 1880 tells that one of the children Jacob Peter Ebler, 13, is born in Gronfør, but it does not tell if he is a son.

Gronfør must be Grundfør parish, Vester Lisbjerg, Aarhus.

Thank you so much Inge and Inger.  The help of kind Danes such as yourselves has been invaluable to Danish-Americans who are trying to connect to their roots in the mother country.
