I have located an 1880 Census entry for Christian Christiansen, my Great Granduncle's family in Copenhagen. It is

Danish Staten Arkiver: Folketællinger Årgang: 1880, Stedbetegnelse: København Gade: Bangertsgade: opslag 4 #36-38

What is the easiest way to identify the Parish wherein this street is located? I would like to look for there marriage.

From the Census I surmise that they became residents of Copenhagen: he in 1869 and she in 1866?, they were married in 1873 and "their" Child Mathilda was born about 1871.

There is some confusion in my mind due to the dates.

Looking at the dates and places relating to Christian Christiansen, Hilda Lindholm and Mathilda Christine Christiansen I have the following scenario:

1)   Christian was born 6 Nov 1845 in Tved, Hillerslev, Thisted, Denmark {1814-1862 Tved Hellerslev Thisted img 34 pg 34 # 6}
2)   Per the 1880 Census it indicates he moved to Copenhagen in 1869

3)    Hilda Lindholm was born 17 Nov 1845 in Finja, Håssleholm, Skåne, Sweden {Sweden, Kristianstad Church Records, 1585-1910; index 1646-1860," images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-159373-458911-2?cc=1978124&wc=MCXH-NPD:259299201,259399701,260267301 : accessed 17 Nov 2014), Finja församling > C Födelse- och dopböcker > 3, 1817-1862. Inb. > image 103 of 157; Landsarkivet, Lund [Sweden Regional Archives, Lund].}

4)   Per the 1880 Census it indicates she moved to Copenhagen in 1866?

5)   Mathilda Christine Christiansen was born 20 Sep 1870. Her birth/baptism records are contained in the Kongelige Fødselstiftelse {the royal maternity hospital} Parish register, Sokkelund Herred, København Amt, mother is identified and father is not. {1866-1876 Fødselsstiftelse, Sokkelund, København img 101 pg  97#330}

My experience in the past has been that is this is a listing of illegitimate children and their mothers who may or may not identify the father. I am assuming that the father of Mathilda may have been Christian Christiansen in as much as her middle name is a version of Christian and her Surname is Christiansen.

6-   According to the Swedish Emigration record Hilda Lindholm emigrated on the 26th of April 1871 {The Swedish Emigrant Institute & The Federation of Swedish Genealogical Socities 2005
Record: 394809}

7-   Per the 1880 Census Christian Christiansen and Hilda Lindholm were married in 1873 {I want to validate}

Trying to tie the dates and places together logically I surmise the following: Hilda moves to Copenhagen in 1866, possibly as a Tjenstepigen (house servant, maid); Christian moves to Copenhagen in 1869, they meet and have an affair resulting in Mathilda being born 20 Sep 1870, Hilda returns to Sweden where after she emigrates formally to Denmark in 1871 per the Swedish Emigrant Institute Record: 394809. Christian and Hilda marry in 1873 per the 1880 Census.

Anyone with any words of wisdom???

Thank you.

Hi Lynn
The best way to find the parish in Copenhagen is based on the adress.
In the 1880 census they live in Bangertsgade. We can not be sure, they also lived there when they got married. But it is worth a try.

Use the web-page: http://fogsgaard.org/index.php/kobenhavnskegader enter the street name, and the page will return the parish for the street.

In the case of Bangertsgade it is Helligkors.

Ellen

They are married in

København, Trinitatis, old version, 1858-1882, opslag 318, nr. 170.

Sorry, the parish of Helligkors does not exist in 1873.
It must then be either Holmens or Trinitatis.

Hi Lynn
For the 'Kongelige Fødselsstiftelse' is also available on-line the 'Udsætterprotokol' or Discharge-protocol. Going from the Birthrecords, which is listed as churchrecord, via the Main-protocol, you can find numbers for the mothers and children, and from they you can go to the 'Udsætter protokol'.

In this it says:
Child # 516: the female child Mathilde Christine Christiansen born on September 20th under the number 330 and baptised on the 27th sm (same month).

Discharged on October 17th 1870 to the mother, unmarried i.f.f (not given birth before) Hilda Lindholm, born on Nov 17th in Finja in Christiansstads Len in Sweden, arrived in the city (Copenhagen) in Nov. 1866 from Malmø to Copenhagen where she has served to 1/7 1870. She goes to H (the home), Mynt 7, 1, and takes the child with her.

(New entry) 24/12 1870 to Adelgade 96, 4 ....[last 2 words?]

Ellen---

Thank you for the information.

Being unfamiliar with that database I do not know how to get to it.

What or where is the  "Udsætter protokol" located?

I know that the child is number 330 and the mother's number is 332. But where is the database that I need to look up the information that you provided me?

Again, thank you....

On the website http://www.digdag.dk/ you can find the boundaries of all administrative divisions of Denmark from 1660 until the present.

For example, select. "Kirkelig" [Ecclesiastical]. Zoom in on Copenhagen until you can read the street name Bangertsgade. Set the slider to 1880 and click on the map at Bangertsgade.

The result:

Vor Frue Provsti [Our Lady deanery]
1878-06-23  - 1880-07-01
Sankt Stefans Sogn [St. Stephen Parish]
1876-07-09  - 1890-01-19
Sjællands Stift [Zealand Diocese]
1880-01-01  - 1880-07-01

Going back to 1660 the plot of land which is now BANGERTSGADE has belonged to the following parishes

Vor Frue
1660-06-14 - 1861-08-25

Sankt Johannes
1861-08-25  - 1876-07-09

Sankt Stefans
1876-07-09 - 1890-01-19

Hellig Kors
1890-01-19 - 1999-11-28

Blågårdens

Thank you every one..this has been a tremendous help.

I am assuming one has to MANUALLY search the Udsætterprotokol

You first find the child in Hovedprotokollen, where it has the same number as in the church book:

http://www.sa.dk/ao/billedviser?epid=16415203#44,37043

Then you look in the column Udleverede til Mødrene med Understøttelse eller udsatte til Fremmede under No,
to find the number in Udsætterprotokollen.
