I have the birth place of Copenhagen, Hovedstaden this does not seem like a good enough

Hi George
Copenhagen (the capital) is not very precise, if you need to find the parish.
But it depends a lit bit on what year, we are talking about.

Yes, hovedstaden = the capital.  A description barely adequate in the census, and no help in finding the birth parish.

If you have a birth date you may be able to snag the birth parish in the births for that name, even if there are pages of births for that name and year.

Copenhagen, Hovedstaden corresponds to today's administrative division in Denmark.
Copenhagen is one of the 98 municipalities and Hovedstaden one of the 5 regions.

The Regions of Denmark were created as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. The five regions replace the former counties (amter). At the same time, the number of municipalities (kommuner) was cut from 270 to 98. The reform was made effective on 1 January 2007.
