I am trying to find the death record for my second great grandmother Nielsine Andersen. Nielsine was born to Anders Jensen and Karen Marie Bastiansdatter on 14 Mar 1853 in Birkerød.

http://dfsimage.blob.core.windows.net/data/kirkeboeger/185/2/003/k04-17-a.tif

I know her immediate family looked like this:

Far: Anders Jensen f. Birkerød, 7 Jun 1806 d. Hørsholm, 23 Jun 1888
Mor: Karen Marie Bastiansdatter f. Karlebo, 14 Aug 1814 d. Karlebo, 15 May 1873
Gift: Hørsholm, 21 Nov 1835
Barn:
Lars Andersen f. Hørsholm, 18 Apr 1834 d. Hørsholm, 4 May 1834
Niels Andersen f. Hørsholm, 6 Dec 1839 d. Hørsholm, 9 Feb 1840
Ane Katrine Andersdatter f. Birkerød, 14 Oct 1845 d. Birkerød, 30 Nov 1845
Johanne Sophie Andersen f. Blovstrød, 26 Oct 1848 d. Usserød, 25 Jan 1901
Nielsine Andersen f. Birkerød, 14 Mar 1853 d. ? ? ? ? , After 1930
Marie Juliane Andersen f. Hørsholm, 20 Sep 1857 d. ? ? ? ?, ? ? ? ?

I have a lot of information about her including:

The 1860 Birkerød Census:

http://dfsimage.blob.core.windows.net/data/folketaelling/ft1860/219727.jpg

The birth of her first (illegitimate) son and my great grandfather, Carl Vilhelm Eilersen,

http://dfsimage.blob.core.windows.net/data/kirkeboeger/190/2/005/k04-05-a.tif

She later married Ole Christiansen

http://dfsimage.blob.core.windows.net/data/kirkeboeger/190/2/010/k01-05-a.tif

and had two other children, Karen Oliva Agnes Christiansen and Hans Laurits Christiansen. This is all confirmed in the 1880 Blovstrød census information. Some time well after this Nielsine and Ole seemed to have become estranged.

Her first son, Carl, married Anna Kirstine Christensen, obtained employment at Carlsberg Brewery and moved to Copenhagen. They had six children and Anna Kirstine Christensen died due to complications associated with the birth of the sixth child. Shortly after the death of Anna Kirstine, Nielsine moved into the Copenhagen flat to help Carl with the children.

Carl Vilhelm Eilersen died due to the 1918 flu pandemic. Family lore has it that the kids were divided up and taken care of by their various aunts and uncles. My grandfather (Otto) Henning Eilersen was fostered by Anna Kirstine's brother and his wife, Anders Peter and Jensine Christensen. Nielsine stayed in the Copenhagen flat where she raised the two eldest children. The last record I have for her is the 1930 census for the Copenhagen flat.

I have no more records after this.

I have tried to search the death records of Sankt Matthæus Kirke but was unable to find her death record there.

Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Dan,
I have not found her death - but I found her here: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/component/sfup/?controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=2013082&searchname=polit_simple

She lived 1/5-1915 at Enghavevej 15,4 (where you have her at the 1930 cencus).
The Politiets Registerblade also write, that she mooved from BREDE.

I then found her in the census from 1911 from Brede (København/Lyngby-Taarbæk): http://www.sa.dk/ao/billedviser?bsid=69178#69178,12807249

Here you can see, that she is a widow, born in Usserød, Birkerød parish, Frederiksborg Amt, that she mooved to Brede in 1888 from Birkerød, and that she is a 'widow-worker'. She lived in the house called: London.

I do no see any children living with her - but they may have done ealier.

You can read a little about Brede Works here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brede_Works

Kindly,
Anne Messmann

Hello Again, Dan

As Nielsine Christiansen lived in Brede, I looked in the book (unpublished), I wrote about the story of my house i Brede. It was built in 1853 in a field just outside Brede Factorys land. In 1898 it was sold to the factory - and thereafter many workers at the Factory have lived there. And among them I found Nielsine Christiansen, b. 14.3.1853, worker, widow living there 1911, 1912, 1913 og 1914.
In 1913 and 1914 she paid Dkr. 78 i yearly rent. Her children did not live there.

The photo of my house (called "Lindely" or "Lars Frederiksens Hus" after the builder & owner) is from 1905.

Best regards,
Anne Messmann

Hi Dan,
Today I searched the churchbook from Skt. Matthæus 1930-1948, but dit not find her death. Maybe she mooved.

I did find her husband Ole Christiansen in Politiets Registerblade from 1916 and 1921 - so she was not a widow afterall.

1916: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/component/sfup/?controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=113378&searchname=polit_simple

1921: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/component/sfup/?controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=2016260&searchname=polit_simple

Kind regards,
Anne Messmann

Hi Anne,

Thanks for that. I was missing her census records for 1890, 1901, 1906 and 1911. Its good to get the 1911 records along with the other information.

It is interesting that she moved to Brede in 1888 as her children would have only been 13, 10 and 9 approximately.

From the 1880 Blovstrød census.

Ole Christiansen   Male   28   1852   Married   Husfader, Daglejer i Agerbruget, Inderste
Nielsine f. Andersen   Female   26   1854   Married   Hans Kone
Carl Vilhelm Eilersen   Male   5   1875   Single   Husfaderens Stedsøn
Karen Oliva Agnes Christiansen   Female   2   1878   Single   Deres Barn
Hans Layris Christiansen   Male   1   1879   Single   Deres Barn

I also knew that her husband was living in Copenhagen and could never understand why all the documentation says she was a widow.

I also know her daughter Karen Oliva Agnes Christiansen moved to Copenhagen but don't know what happens to her after 1898.

Her other son, Hans Laurits Christiansen,  married and moved to Tjaereby, Nørre Herlev and finally Skævinge. After the death of his half brother (Carl Vilhelm Eilersen) Hans fostered Carl's son Peder Aksel (min Morfar's bror).

Once again thank you for that information.

Tak

Hi Dan,
I find Karen Olivia Agnes in 1989 (maybe you have this) here: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/component/sfup/?controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=1346377&isbrowsing=1&searchname=

She is not in Skt. Pederstræde by FT-1901.

Then I found her here 1909, merryed to Julius Christian Petersen, b. Nærum 26.3.1875: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/index.php?option=com_sfup&controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=2464002&searchname=

They mooved from Stampen in 1908, but i they are not in the FT-1906 in Stampen. Maybe his Brother/relative? - Morten Julius Petersen: http://www.sa.dk/ao/billedviser?bsid=16972#16972,650359

Here her husbonds earlier addreses: http://www.politietsregisterblade.dk/index.php?option=com_sfup&controller=politregisterblade&task=viewRegisterblad&id=2270651&searchname=polit_simple

Hi Dan,
I have search the Administration for: Christiansen, Nielsine f. Andersen in the Copenhagen Administration 1930-1935 without luck: http://www.sa.dk/content/dk/ao-forside/find_kobenhavnske_skifter

If Nielsine Christiansen died in Copenhagen, there is another possibility, but that is not so easy: At  Copenhagen Cityarchive (Københavns Stadsarkiv) you can order a package of deathrecords 1923-1932 or 1933-1951 (http://www.starbas.net/bestillingsenhed.php?bestillingsenhed_id=1046482)
But then you have to be there in person (or another person) to find the deathrecord.

I'm sorry I cant help you there, as I'm not often in town.

Anne,

Thanks again for providing a lot of useful information.

I always wondered about what happened to Karen Olivia. Its good to know she got married and it didn't take long for me to find her husband's birth record in
Søllerød.

I am still trying to find out what happened to min Morfar's other sister. I suspect Karen may have raised her.

I haven't had much time to do any research lately but you have given me a few more paths to look down.

Thanks again

Dan
