Cheers, Rog Nelson

Hi Roger,

"Rytterbonde" was a farmer who had a duty to pay or contribute to all expences for a soldier's living, his equipment, and a horse.

Kind regards,

Often a 'rytterbonde' had better conditions than other farmers.

The jurisdiction for a 'Rytterbonde' was a 'Rytterdistrikt' e.g. at Funen 'Fyns Rytterdistrikt'

For Estate records of 'Fyns Rytterdistrikt' have a look at e.g.  http://fynhistorie.dis-danmark.dk/node/14235

http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rytterdistrikt  (in Danish!)
also tell about the 'Rytterskoler': in the period 1721-1742  240 school-buildings were established - all alike

Pictures etc. of 'Rytterskoler' at Funen: http://www.thorshoj.dk/Rytterskoler_Fyn%20.htm

A 'rytterskole' is placed at the museum Den fynske Landsby, Odense: http://museum.odense.dk/museer/den-fynske-landsby

The different 'Rytterdistrikter' [Distrikt: County] and year of sold or dissolved
•   Antvorskov Rytterdistrikt (1774)
•   Dronningborg Rytterdistrikt (1764-65)
•   Falster Rytterdistrikt (1766)
•   Fredriksborg Rytterdistrikt (1774)
•   Fyns Rytterdistrikt (1764-65)
•   Koldinghus Rytterdistrikt (1764-65)
•   Kronborg Rytterdistrikt (1774)
•   København Rytterdistrikt (1774)
•   Lolland Rytterdistrikt (1727)
•   Skanderborg Rytterdistrikt (1767)
•   Tryggevælde Rytterdistrikt (1730-66)
•   Vordingborg Rytterdistrikt (1774)
