In the 1787 Census for Aarhus http://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid162895

It indicates that Ane Sørensdatter is 'Married' AND 'Madmoder'.

My understanding is that "Madmoder" means "mistress". Further, can a woman be both a spouse and mistress to the same man? Or, does this have a different meaning?

Are there other interpretations of "Madmoder"?

Thank you for any help.....

It is the same as husmoder, Housewife.

She makes sure, that the food is on the table.

Mad= food.
